Zelenskiy Says Ukraine Will Implement Partial Ceasefire
Get caught up.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy sees a partial ceasefire with Russia taking effect after the US said the two sides had reached an agreement “to ensure safe navigation” in the Black Sea and to work out mechanisms for implementing the ban on strikes against energy infrastructure.
Aspirations for a quick and lasting ceasefire may still be too optimistic, according to an assessment by the US intelligence community that clashes with President Donald Trump’s pledges for a rapid end to the three-year conflict. The two sides, which have been locked in another round of talks in the Saudi capital Riyadh, may see a greater incentive to prolong the war instead of rushing into a settlement.
