Taiwan Stock Gauge Surges by Record After US Tariff Reprieve
Taiwan’s stocks surged by a record Thursday, tracking a global rebound after President Donald Trump announced a 90-day pause on reciprocal duties for most trading partners.
The benchmark Taiex jumped by around 9.3%, with Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. and MediaTek Inc. among the biggest boosts as they rose by their 10% daily limit. Meanwhile, the local currency strengthened as much as 0.6% against the US dollar, the biggest intraday jump since November.
