India’s Ex-Central Bank Boss Gets Top Job in Modi’s Office

India appointed former Reserve Bank of India governor Shaktikanta Das as a principal secretary to the prime minister, a powerful position where he will advise Narendra Modi on local and foreign policies.

Das, who turns 68 on Feb. 26, will stay in office as long as Modi is premier, according to a government notification Saturday. He will work alongside P.K. Mishra, who has been principal secretary to Modi since 2019.
