India Extends Chief Economic Adviser’s Term for Two Years

India’s government extended the term of Chief Economic Adviser V. Anantha Nageswaran by two years, ruling him out as a possible contender to take the post of central bank deputy governor.

Nageswaran will remain in his current post until March 31, 2027, the Ministry of Finance said in a notification Thursday. The CEA is a senior official in the ministry.
