Russia plans to resume natural gas flows to Moldova’s pro-Russian breakaway region of Transnistria amid an energy crisis, according to Vadim Krasnoselsky, leader of the self-proclaimed republic.

Gas supplies for the enclave’s residents and the functioning of its economy will be restored in the form of humanitarian and technical aid, he said Wednesday, following a visit to Moscow, according to a statement from his office. The fuel will be shipped only for consumers in Transnistria.
