Taiwan Rate Hikes ‘Probably’ Not Over, Central Bank’s Yang Says

Taiwan’s central bank may not be done hiking rates, Governor Yang Chin-long said, as policymakers weigh how to navigate recent price pressures against slowing growth in the economy.

“Taiwan’s rate-hiking cycle probably hasn’t ended yet,” Yang told lawmakers on Thursday, two days after Taiwan reported a higher-than-expected jump of 3.05% in the consumer price index for October. That’s well above the central bank’s annual forecast of 2.22%.
